Major, USAMC: Charles Emerson Winchester III, MD ~
Serial Number: US21020980

Charles is from Boston, Massachusetts. Unlike Klinger, Charles just wants out as far as Tokyo, away from the cesspool we like to call the 4077th M*A*S*H unit.

He still lives with his mother and father. His sister Hanoria, has a speech inpediment which we learn about when Charles defends a young boy in post op being ostrasized with a similar disability. He had a brother that died when he was young and mentions a pet Bullmastiff dog named Bruno.

Charles comes from a rich background, and was able to go to one of the finest universities, Harvard. He is a skilled surgeon, but would appear to care more about the glory and money that comes with it rather than the patients themselves. But when push comes to shove, he does the right thing and remains loyal to those who count.

Charles resides in The Swamp at the 4077th M*A*S*H with bunkies Hawkeye and BJ. He occasionally makes a deal or two with Klinger for some good quality wine and mostly talks to Margaret.

Charles can be some what intollerable at times and incredibly stuck up. Yet somehow, he is willing to let his hair down *Coff Coff* and have more fun than Frank Burns ever could.

Charles has a love for Wines and Classical music. In "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" he meets 5 Chinese musicians. Charles takes the opportunity and begins teaching his new found group Mozart. However, being POW's they could not stay. As they were shipped off in the back of a truck, they played one last song for him. Later on, in a mass of casualties Charles finds only one, the rest didn't even make it that far. During their speeches after news that the war has ended he says "Music used to be an escape for him, now it is just a painful reminder".
~Charles: "Gentlemen ..."
After the war:Head of Thoracic Surgery at Bostom Mercy Hospital, Massachusetts.
