Father Mulcahy is from Philidelphia P.A. He came from a large family, but only really talks about his sister Angelica who is a nunn. From what we have learnt of her, she plays on the basket ball team, is tall, plays musical instruments and bit his toe when he was younger. She used to go by the name of Cathy, but changed it to Maria Angelica when she became a nunn. Once she wanted to leave the nunnery and have a child of her own, but nothing became of that.
His mother used to call him Johnny rather than John. Sometimes it upset him that no one ever addressed him by his given name, it was always "Hello Father" or "How are you today Father?"

It took Father Mulcahy a while to become a Captain, everytime the premotion list came out they kept over looking him and as a result he was never on it. Finally, with the help of his friends and some hardly used Captain bars he made it.

Father Mulcahy donates alot of his time to helping out sister Teresa, who runs an orphanage for the korean children.
Not many people turn up for his Sunday services, but despite that, he is much needed around the 4077th. Father Mulcahy does last rights, confessions and all the other Preist stuff. During a confession with a wounded soldier he was asked if he had ever been up to the front. Much to his regret he had to admit that he had not. With that in mind Father Mulcahy went to Potter and requested permission to go. Colonel Potter dismissed his request due to the fact that there was just no need for a priest up at the front and it was too risky anyway. Ignoreing Colonel Potter, Mulcahy went anyway, booting Igor from the jeep Radar was taking up to retrive a wounded soldier. On return from the front the soldier began to have trouble breathing. They wreached Klinger, Hawkeye and Potter via radio at the 4077th and explained the situation. Hawkeye fed Father Mulcahy instructions on how to do an emergency trechiotomy. Mulcahy did as Hawkeye said using what little equiptment he could find. The trechiotomy was sucessful and the soldier began to breath again. YAY Father Mulcahy!
