Trapper met Hawkeye before Korea during his residency in Boston. He was one of the original Swampies.

Trapper loved a practicle joke as much as Hawkeye, and Frank was usually their target.

Trapper got news of his discharge while Hawkeye was on R&R in Tokyo, he tried to reach him but could not track him down. Unfortunantly they just missed each other, both at the 4077th and Kimpo airbase. Trapper never got to say goodbye to Hawkeye.
